Leed’s is committed to ensuring the safety of its products and the safety of your customers. We take all necessary steps to manufacture products that meet Federal product regulations and standards. The quality and safety of our products are a matter of utmost importance to us.
Our bottles made from Polycarbonate material meet the Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) regulations. The FDA indicates that Bisphenol A (BPA) is an expected by-product from the molding of polycarbonate and has approved it for uses ranging from medical devices to food containers. We believe that Polycarbonate remains a safe material for use in sport bottles. To date the FDA has made no changes to its regulations affecting polycarbonates.
However, we recognize your and your customers’ growing concerns around the material. In light of this feedback, we have taken the proactive step to evaluate BPA-free alternatives and have developed alternative options that are durable, reusable, clear, and do not contain Bisphenol A.
Within the coming months, Leed’s will offer five sports bottles that are completely BPA-free:
- Nook Sport Bottle (1620-31) – currently available
- Slazenger® Swivel Head Sport Bottle (6050-07) – available August 2008
- Aladdin® Clean & Clever Water Bottle (1640-49) – available August 2008
- Swish Sport Bottle (1621-58) – available August 2008
- Cascade Sport Bottle (1621-25) - available September 2008
In January 2009 we will discontinue our current Polycarbonate bottles and only offer BPA-free sports bottles. We are taking the necessary steps to ensure that this shift will be executed seamlessly on our end. All of the bottles that are BPA-free will indicate this attribute directly on the product.
We appreciate your business and take your ideas very seriously; our decision to change the material is strongly based on our customers’ feedback and does not reflect our stance on the attributes of polycarbonate material.
Sincerely,
David Nicholson
President
